A report in OMF's East Asia Millions magazine, states that amongst Hong Kong's population of 6.3 million, there are 260,000 Protestant Christians with only 2,000 Pastors, in 1,200 Churches. Churches with mission programs numbered 300 in 1996, with 13 Bible colleges and seminaries.

Some believe the exodus of church leaders in the 80's led to a thrusting of young people into positions of leadership, and a revival in the churches. However, the recent spurt of church planting has left some churches without mature leadership.
